How to setup AWS Greengrass on QNAP NAS?

In this tutorial, you will learn how to setup AWS Greengrass on QNAP NAS. 

 

Install AWS Greengrass 

  • Go to QTS App Center, find “AWS Greengrass” and click “install”

Configuring AWS Greengrass on AWS IoT cloud

Upload Greengrass Core CA, Cert and Key to AWS Greengrass Core application

  1. Open AWS Greengrass on your QNAP NAS

  2. In “Greengrass settings file”, choose “xxxxxx-setup.tar.gz” and click “Upload”

  3. In “AWS IoT root CA”, choose “root.ca.pem” and click “Upload”

  4.  Click “Start”

  5. Go to “Status”. The status should display “Greengrass successfully started”

 

Test function 1. Create two Devices (one is a Publisher and the other one is a Subscriber)

(*If following message is displayed, you may have entered the wrong command or certificate)

Test function 2. AWS Lambda running on Greengrass Core

 

Support model:

  • ARM-based NAS requires at least 1 GB RAM and QTS 4.3.4 or later:
    x31P: TS-431P, 
     TS-231P,  TS-131P
    x31P2: TS-231P2,  TS-431P2

  • x86-based NAS (Intel and AMD processor) requires at least 1 GB RAM and QTS 4.3.0 or later
