How to use Modbus gateway to connect with Modbus device in QIoT Suite Lite?

In this tutorial, you will learn how to use Modbus gateway (Using  WEP232 Modbus Gateway as sample) to connect with Modbus device in QIoT Suite Lite (Using AQD-101 Air Quality Dashboard as a sample) Install third-party Node-RED Plugin support Modbus protocol. Refer to below installation steps:

 

Install Node-RED Modbus plugin


  1. Connect to your NAS via SSH and enter commands: (For more information, check https://www.qnap.com/en/how-to/knowledge-base/article/how-to-access-qnap-nas-by-ssh)

  2. Go  to assigned contents

  3. Install node-red-contrib-modbus

  4. Restart all the Node-RED

 

 

Method of using Node-RED plugin


  1. Establish Thing Resource in QIoT Suite Lite (You may refer to How to show DHT11 data on a QIoT Dashboard? )
  2. Refer to below sample code and import it to your Rule (You may refer to  How to Backup QIoT Suite Lite first paragraph)


     
  3. After importing and then clicking QBroker node to modify it 
  4. In Edit QBroker node: choose corresponding resource in each QBrocker node and click “Done”
  5. Click Modbus Read.
    In step 2: According to your device instructions
    In step 3: Click to set up Modbus Gateway IP
  6. Sep up your Modbus gateway IP, Port and “Update” > click “Done”
  7. According to your requirement, you may also modify AQD 101 Function node
  8. Click “Save”
  9. Add temp, hum, CO2, pm25 in Dashboard widget (Refer to  How to use the Dashboard after updating QIoT Suite Lite from v1.1.1 to v1.1.2? ). After adding successfully then will display as below:
